About the Position

QUT Faculty of Education is seeking an outstanding Professor of Digital Pedagogies with an international track record of advancing digital learning innovation, to inspire, mentor, and lead world-class applied educational research and teaching in digital pedagogies. We are seeking a pioneering and visionary innovator committed to advancing transdisciplinary research and practice in digital pedagogies through the use of established and emerging methods and approaches, as well as through collaborative partnerships with end-users. The successful candidate will be:

• familiar with the state of digital pedagogy education from early childhood through to tertiary levels, nationally and internationally;
• an active researcher in innovative uses for digital pedagogy tools;
• experienced in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating digital learning innovations;
• experienced with coordinating the systematic translation of best practices from learning and cognition research into practice; and
• experienced in leading digital pedagogy collaborations with organisations external to the University.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate excellence in developing and leading diverse teams including mentoring and capacity building, articulating and implementing a strategic vision and plan, building internal and external partnerships, and in seeking and securing significant external funding.

This position reports to the Head of School of Teacher Education and Leadership for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide academic leadership and foster a vibrant and collaborative culture of research and teaching in digital pedagogies.
• Lead high impact research including the submission of research grant applications and publications in high quality peer reviewed journals.
• Strategically and effectively engage with industry partners and professional associations at national/international levels.
• Facilitate and mentor early and mid-career researchers and contribute to the growth and development of research capacity in digital pedagogies and education research within the Faculty.
• Support and contribute to the research activities of diverse, transdisciplinary teams.
• Identify, develop, and maintain research collaborations within the Faculty and across the University’s Faculties and Institutes, as well as with external academic partners.
• Disseminate and promote the research, work, and outcomes both nationally and internationally.
• Implement and administer University policy within the Faculty with respect to equitable access to education and workplace health and safety.

The successful candidate may be appointed at Professor, Level E or Associate Professor, Level D depending on their level of attainment against the position classification standards outlined in the QUT Enterprise Agreement (Academic Staff). The position classification standards provide the basis to differentiate between the various levels of appointment and define the broad relationships between classifications.

Selection Criteria

1. Possession of a doctoral qualification in educational research with an outstanding international research track record in digital pedagogy.
2. Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain a high level of internationally recognised educational research outcomes, including academic publications and translation into practice. Proven leadership in collaboration and experience in mentoring to drive a high performing culture. A track record in securing external research income preferably from both industry and government partners. Demonstrated track record of identifying, establishing and maintaining research or industry collaborations and partnerships that span diverse disciplinary teams and stakeholder groups.
3. Proven leadership in defining new theories, methods, and/or approaches to digital pedagogy research including high level skills in evaluating the effectiveness of integrating and using new technologies in new generation learning spaces.

Remuneration and Benefits

The classification for this position is either:

• Academic Level E (LEVE) (Professor) which has an annual remuneration of $214,561 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual salary of $181,307 pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading.
• Academic Level D (LEVD) (Associate Professor) which has an annual remuneration of $166,556 to $183,506 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual salary of $140,742 to $155,065 pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading.

About the Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education is a national leader in teacher education and in many areas of education research.
