Overview:

Applications are sought for a Tissue Bank Data Scientist to design, develop and maintain an IT infrastructure for the maintenance of a sample repository from the lead Operational Centre (OC) of the Breast Cancer Now Tissue Bank.  The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or equivalent, proficient in Unix/Linux environment, SQL querying and database development and R programming . The research will be based in the Barts Cancer Institute, Charterhouse Square within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include a degree in a relevant subject and experience in data programming, with proficiency in Unix/Linux, SQL, R programming as well as web application development scripting language. Experience with biological databases would be an advantage.

The post is full time, fixed term for 12 months.  Starting salary will be in the range £33,615-£39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
