Overview:

Applications are sought for a Research Technician to join Prof. Trevor Graham’s Evolution and Cancer laboratory at the Barts Cancer Institute, Charterhouse Square within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.  The successful applicant will work primarily at the Zooological Society of London (ZSL) cataloguing the animal pathology archives of this storied institution. The primary goal for this post is to record instances of cancer in captive zoo animals at ZSL over the past decades.

The successful candidate will focus on archiving the necropsy records and specimens of zoo animals held at the ZSL in London, UK.  This archive is unparalleled anywhere in the world in terms of its size and scope, stretching back more than a century. 

Essential requirements for this post include a undergraduate degree in relevant biological or vetinary subject, familiarity with database software, the ability to work indepdnently, and excellent orgnaisational skills. A higher degree in vetinery science would be an advantage. 

The post is part time, fixed term for 12 months.  Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 - £32,735 pro rata per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, plus 4 College closure days, flexible working hours, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.  Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
