The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at the UM, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. All of its bachelor’s degree programmes in engineering and computer science are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and recognized worldwide.

The Department of Mathematics currently has 17 faculty members and more than 30 PhD students, their research areas cover Probability and Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, and Analysis. The department offers Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programs. The Bachelor degree program has two streams: Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. The PhD program provides sufficient financial supports through the following funding sources: Chinese Government NSFC Funding, Macau Government FDCT PhD Funding, UM PhD Scholarship and UM PhD Assistantship.

As the disciplines Statistics and Data Science are currently undergoing a strategic expansion at UM, the Department of Mathematics invites applications for a faculty position in Statistics at the rank of Associate/Assistant Professor.

Qualifications

The candidates must have a PhD degree in related fields. Preference will be given to the candidates with extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary level, especially with a strong research agenda in Statistics, Data Science and related fields. 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2020.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP800,800 (approximately USD98,860), will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
