The University of Surrey is amongst the highest achieving universities in the United Kingdom, having been awarded the Times/Sunday Times University of the Year Award for 2016. We are the recipient of four Queen’s Anniversary Prizes.

We are seeking applications from a motivated and dynamic individual to the position of Faculty Health & Safety Advisor for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences brings together scholars and students from an extraordinary range of academic disciplines in a learning community dedicated to the discovery and enrichment of the arts, humanities and social sciences. We are a group of artists, entrepreneurs and scholars working to investigate the pleasures, and understand the challenges, of our times.

Each year we welcome more than 7,000 bright, dedicated students onto our degree programmes. Our students know that strong ideals must be coupled with excellence in practice. In FASS, we emphasise the value of research alongside our ‘conservatoire’ culture of learning by doing. Our students engage with the theory and history of their discipline while working on real problems, and have the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience through our renowned Professional Training placements.

Our dedication to the student experience is demonstrated by our success in the major league tables.  We are ranked in the top five UK universities by The Guardian University League Table 2018 for Hospitality and Tourism, Modern Languages and Music, and 1st for Criminology.

Our learning community is global. Our staff is as diverse as our student body. We speak dozens of languages and offer each other learning opportunities that draw on our remarkably different backgrounds. Our alumni hold senior positions in industry and academia across the world and we are proud of the contribution they make to society.

As the successful candidate you will co-ordinate the implementation of health and safety management systems and provide advice and support to managers, staff and students across the full range of Faculty activities.

Qualified to Health and Safety NVQ Level 6, or equivalent, you will also possess experience in a health and safety role. Strong communication and organisation skills, ability to analyse, evaluate and produce reports, with previous experience of working for a complex organisation, are also essential requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual with a passion for health and safety to join our Faculty, and  contribute to our University goal of ‘Towards Zero Harm’.

We are seeking applications from a motivated and dynamic individual to the position of Faculty Health & Safety Advisor (FASS).

Informal enquiries should be made to the Director of Faculty Operations, Ruth Gill - r.gill@surrey.ac.uk, 01483 686236
