Role Description

Cranfield University is a wholly postgraduate university, specialising in science, technology, engineering and management.

The Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) team manages a variety of activities and services to encourage lifetime connections and engagement between all of our alumni and the University, and to generate support for Cranfield through volunteering or philanthropy.

This is a key role in increasing alumni engagement and raising awareness of Cranfield’s alumni services, both internally and externally, and developing alumni engagement and participation.  You will assist with a wide range of projects, providing tactical support in the delivery of integrated communication activities to support the overall objectives of the ARD team and the University.

You will be required to create highly engaging content and show a strong awareness of the requirements of specific audiences and segments across different channels of communication.  You will have proven experience of writing and editing a range of online and printed materials to strict deadlines and the ability to interpret complex technical language to form engaging messaging and communications. But you you understand that content is much more than just copy, and will have experience of creating both video and audio content.

You will have experience of working in a marketing or communications role covering a broad range of print and digital marketing activities, including production of marketing materials, social media, web content management systems and HTML email editing, with the ability to plan and coordinate the delivery of campaigns independently.

Educated to degree level in English, Journalism, Marketing Communications or a relevant subject, or with equivalent experience you will have:

  • A pro-active, can-do approach with a willingness to identify and pursue a story.
  • Experience of content creation and a range of digital marketing activities.
  • The ability to build collaborative working relationships and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, along with attention to detail.
  • The ability to interact with donors and other alumni with sensitivity, diplomacy and discretion.

Knowledge of CRM systems, marketing automation and workflows, and data segmentation is highly desirable, as is an understanding of higher education. You will also be willing to travel to events in the UK and occasionally work outside office hours.
