Following a successful program grant awarded by Barts Charity, to support adrenal disease research, applications are invited for the post of research nurse at Bart’s and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The position is based in the Centre for Endocrinology, which comprises >60 research staff and is located within the picturesque Charterhouse Square Campus of QMUL. The post holder will also work closely with colleagues in the nearby Department of Endocrinology at St Bartholomew's Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust).

The successful applicant will support the following three research projects:

  1. Reducing morbidity and mortality in succinate dehdyrogenase gene mutation carriers (Prof Paul Chapple).
  2. Improved genetic diagnosis of primary adrenal insufficiency (Prof Lou Metherell).
  3. Adrenocortical carcinomas: searching for novel targets for effective treatment modalities (Dr Leonardo Guasti).

They will be responsible for liaising with clinicians and surgical teams to consent patients and facilitate tissue/blood sample collection and processing. They will also, design and maintain patient databases and ensure data security is implemented. Please note this position requires you to travel to different hospitals in London.

Comprehensive training in research methodologies, laboratory techniques and other skills required to perform the role will be provided, as will mentorship.

The post is full time for three years. Starting salary will be in the range (£33,615- £37,411) per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
