Role Description

This post will be based at Shrivenham for the foreseeable future howevere it is possitble it could become a split site role and at some point in the future it may relocate to Cranfield in Bedfordshire.

The Flexible Learning Support Centre (FLSC) coordinates the content and account management processes required to ensure effective use of the learning applications at CDS. Drawing on industry and sector best practice and working with the broader Learning Services team, the FLSC designs, promotes and delivers a range of training and coaching interventions to support both CDS teaching staff and students in all aspects of blended and distance learning. The FLSC also provides second-line e-Helpdesk support to users of the School’s learning applications (Moddle, Mahara and Turnitin), as well as initiating projects designed to enhance the School’s teaching, learning and research functions.

We are seeking a motivated team-worker with a passion for faciliatating the development of engaging online learning materials. The applicant will have a detailed knowledge of Moodle, Turnitin plagiarism prevention software and e-helpdesk functions and will work closely with academic and service department colleagues to enhance the School’s taught course portfolio. Experience of e-portfolio systems and particuarly Mahara would also be desirable. A good understanding of pedagogy, attention to detail, excellent problem-solving and inter-personal skills, a methodical, logical and flexible approach and a commitment to the delivery of outstanding customer service are essential for this position.

The applicant must have knowledge and experience of supporting colleagues in the use of learning technologies and ideally have some experience of working within an acdemic institution. They must also have developed and maintained training manuals and/or other training materials and have experience of training colleagues or students, ideally in the design and enhancement of online learning materials.
