FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND INFORMATION SCIENCES

  • Fixed term, full-time appointment (three years)

The Associate Research Fellow position will be responsible for conducting research on using artificial intelligence to study, simulate and control complex systems with a special focus on smart cities. Methods in use will range from machine learning to multi-agent systems.

The Associate Research Fellow will contribute to on-going modelling efforts undertaken within SMART’s Infrastructure Modelling & Simulation research group, as well as SMART’s Open IoT Hub laboratory. Besides, the successful candidate is expected to develop new research proposals – public grants and commissioned projects – leading to high quality research publications and HDR student supervision. The position will work collaboratively across the University, especially with relevant colleagues in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, and will report directly to the Director of the SMART Infrastructure Facility.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in least two of the following disciplines: agent based modelling, smart sensing, machine learning and/or urban modelling. The candidate will also demonstrate capacity to lead and deliver research projects on time and on target, as well as working in a team environment on complex modelling applications.

You will be prompted to respond to a selection criteria questionnaire as part of the application process.
