Applications are invited for appointment as Investigator in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 495870), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
This post is created specifically to bring new impetus and vigour to the University’s research enterprise, and to meet strategic research needs identified by the Department of Microbiology.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree with at least 8 years' relevant post-doctoral experience in the field of microbiology or a related discipline, including molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, advanced imaging techniques and animal models. Experience in writing grant proposals and training research post-graduate students and post-doctoral fellows would be an advantage. Applicants should be highly motivated with good communication skills in English. The appointee will work in the research areas on virus host interaction.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
