The Centre for Applied Health Economics (CAHE) was established in 2008, within the School of Medicine, and is based at the Nathan campus. The Centre currently employs 30 staff on contract research projects, fellowships and research grants, and has a number of affiliated HDR students. The Centre is self-funded with an emphasis on teamwork with several strong research themes in health economics, including economic evaluation, measurement of health outcomes, and priority setting. This research has attracted multiple research grants from national bodies (eg the ARC and NHMRC). Staff in the Centre are also associated with one or more of the research programs within Griffith University's Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ).

The opportunity

The primary role for this position will be to assist with high level Health Technology Assessment (HTA) of health care interventions. HTA involves providing objective evidence-based appraisals of proposals for medical services/procedures and pharmaceutical products using a wide range of skills including: critical appraisal of clinical trial evidence, quantitative analysis, epidemiology, systematic literature reviews, economic evaluation, budget impact modelling and report writing. The incumbent will be a member of the contract research team in the CAHE undertaking evaluation of industry submissions of new technologies for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the Medical Benefits Schedule.

This is a 3 year fixed term full-time appointment based at the Nathan Campus.

About you

The successful candidate will be able to undertake clinical, epidemiologic and economic review of submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Medical Benefits Scheme. In addition, the candidate will assist in the preparation of high quality government reports, industry grant and tender applications, and undertake (with guidance) the preparation of high quality assessment outputs and evaluations to the MSAC and PBAC.

The successful candidate will have a Masters degree or higher in Health Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, or another relevant field, together with experience of data analysis, strong organisational skills including time management, and must be able to work independently.

Salary range

Senior Research Assistant, Grade 1 - $77,493.39 - $86,579.95 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Senior Research Assistant, Grade 2 - $94,363.87 - $97,901.47 per annum plus 17% superannuation
