Duties

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Data Analyst and Reporting Specialist. The position will perform assessment and analysis of packaging and budget trends, make data driven decisions, monitor unit functions, and implement continuous process improvement plans to support strategic campus-wide planning. Perform data analysis, data research and reporting using SAS, Excel Data Optimization and Visualization packages. Perform analysis on historical data on both long- and short-term trends in order to build forecasting modeling for budgetary planning. Developing and write technical documentation and develop reports and making recommendations. Serve as the functional budget data analyst providing support for end users, budgetary analysis, data compilation, research and reporting. Prepare budget reports for both internal and external constituents and make recommendations toward simplification and future data assessment needs. Develop and integrate new financial aid tools and resources. Provide training and support for student services staff in new developed online resources. Work closely with Technology Staff and Institutional Research to integrate new services with the student information system. Provide technical support for a complex functional student information system that impacts a large segment of students. Conduct review and analysis of operations statistics, reports and other data that supports budget analysis and funding trends for past and future performance assessment.

Maintain current knowledge of federal and institutional funding regulations and policies and respond to new regulatory requirements that demand changes to systems and processes to sustain compliance. Develop and prepare ongoing, periodic, automatic, and ad hoc reports, queries, statistics, and summaries. Perform advanced financial & operational modeling consisting data compilation, segmentation, and optimization for student financial packaging strategy assessments. Assess and integrate different databases and analyze end results using appropriate statistical methodology with high confidence level and advanced software including SAS, SPSS, Excel Data Optimization & Visualization Package, and Microsoft Access database. Develop and implement custom data analysis modules and other graphic-user-interface strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality and assist in more concise data visualization for decision-making. Acquire and manage data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases and reports.

Qualifications

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field and one (1) year of experience in data analysis, data research and reporting; utilizing SAS, Excel Data Optimization and Visualization packages; performing analysis on historical data on both long- and short-term trends in order to build forecasting modeling for budgetary planning; developing and writing technical documentation; and experience developing reports and making recommendations. In lieu of a Master’s degree and one (1) year of experience in data analysis, data research and reporting, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or Foreign Equivalent) in Accounting, Economics, or Finance and three (3) years of experience in data analysis, data research and reporting.
