Joint Lectureship in Sociology and Irish Studies Grade 7

£34,188 - £39,610 pa

The Institute of Irish Studies and the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University seek to appoint a Lecturer in Sociology and Irish Studies. This joint appointment will enhance the research connections between the two departments, while meeting the need for teaching on core modules in Sociology and optional modules in Irish Studies. We welcome applications from any topic area but research that directly strengthens and complements the existing research strengths of sociology is particularly welcome. The Lecturer will contribute to Sociology’s REF return and will contribute to the Institute of Irish Studies’ ongoing environment and outreach activities. The Institute of Irish Studies will provide research support, office space, and support for outreach projects. These projects and events will be hosted as joint events/seminars/workshops with Sociology. You will also be supervising PhD Students jointly with the Institute of Irish Studies and Sociology.

You will have a PhD (or be about to obtain) in a relevant discipline (or equivalent qualifications/ experience) and evidence of an emerging track-record of producing high quality research and publications.  The post is available from 1 September 2019.
