Following the University Executive Board’s commitment to investing in the establishment of Chemical Engineering in the University of Southampton, building upon and complementing the University’s internationally leading Schools of Engineering and Chemistry, applications are invited from candidates with a proven track record of education, research and leadership to this new post to lead the development of the programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Chemical Engineering will sit within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, with strong interactions across both Chemistry and Engineering. 

You will have a strong vision for Chemical Engineering and the commitment to influence and shape the education programmes as well as to contribute strongly to our research profile in Chemical Engineering.       

It is essential you  have a proven track record in education and research, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and to secure external research funding. Experience of programme validation and accreditation and a record of sustaining an internationally leading research activity in an area that complements the existing themes in the Faculty are essential. Strong industrial links, educational experience and/or programme development are desirable. You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

The position is available from September 2019

The appointee will benefit from the University's recent and ongoing investment in infrastructure across the campus to underpin its strategic priorities, including major investment in Chemistry, and to enable delivery of innovative new collaborative and interdisciplinary research and education agendas.
