About The Centre for Social Impact (CSI)

The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) is a national research and education centre dedicated to catalysing social change for a better world. CSI is built on the foundation of three of Australia’s leading universities: UNSW Sydney, The University of Western Australia, and Swinburne University of Technology.

Our research develops and brings together knowledge to understand current social challenges and opportunities; our postgraduate and undergraduate education develops social impact leaders; and we aim to catalyse change by drawing on these foundations and translating knowledge, creating leaders, developing usable resources, and reaching across traditional divides to facilitate collaborations.

CSI National and CSI UNSW is located on the UNSW Sydney campus (Kensington) within the UNSW Business School where the centre is aligned with the strategic priorities of the University and from where it leads interactions with students, alumni, industry, government, professional bodies, and the community. 

CSI UNSW comprises research, education and operations teams, a national marketing & communications team and the national CSI CEO.

About the role

  • $72,880 - $82,467 + 17% Superannuation
  • 36 month Fixed-term
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

The Research Support Administrator will provide administrative and research assistance to research projects focused on the measurement of social impact, conducting research under the direction of the CSI Research Director. These objectives will help to increase the centre’s reputation for research leadership in social impact by establishing a strong, thriving, high quality research environment.

The position reports the CSI UNSW co-Research Director or their delegate and has 0 direct reports.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Performing research literature searches and identifying outcome indicators for projects and publications and assisting with preparation of publications.
  • Assisting researchers with the preparation of ethics applications, grant applications and annual and other progress reports.
  • Coordinating study recruitment including survey mail outs and respondent follow ups.
  • Conducting interviews and coordinating the transcription or interviews with research participants.
  • Conducting quantitative/qualitative data analysis to support the research team.
  • General administrative duties including attending meetings and training sessions, prompt mailing of correspondence, minuting meetings.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in a social science discipline or in an area of relevance to CSI, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrate previous experience providing research assistance for studies in an area of relevance to CSI.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people and an aptitude for understanding social impact content areas such as collective impact, social change and systems thinking.
  • Knowledge of, or an aptitude to learn, various IT software, such as research-related computer programs (such as SPSS, NVivo and Endnote).
