We are seeking a leader in higher education compliance & quality assurance who is looking to work on interesting projects and help influence change throughout the Uni. You will be a forward thinker and a self-starter with the ability to build strong relationships.

About the role

The role of Manager, Compliance & Quality Assurance sits within the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic (DVCA). This is a large portfolio covering a wide range of activities supporting the student experience and the needs of both students and academic staff. The Division currently includes the Library, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Indigenous, and Student Services.

As the Manager, Compliance & Quality Assurance you will be tasked with providing key strategic advice on compliance requirements for the Division and the University and assist areas to implement and improve processes in order to meet their compliance responsibilities.

The position is the key UNSW contact point for Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and Educational Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) related matters, and is responsible for compiling and drafting reports for external regulatory bodies.  The position responds to complex and diverse enquiries across a wide range of policy, regulatory and quality assurance (QA) issues, and provides a high level of advice and support for policy development and other compliance-related matters in support of the Division’s and the University’s strategic and operational objectives.

Selection Criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and extensive related experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven ability to operate in a complex multi-stakeholder environment with the ability to develop effective working relationships with leaders across the University.
  • Proven experience negotiating with external and internal parties regarding accreditation and/or compliance requirements, and successfully implementing these across a large and diverse organisation.
  • Ability to provide expert advice on the regulatory environment and its impact on operations.
  • High-level organisational skills and proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
