Overview:
Applications are sought for the post of Commercialisation Executive in Queen Mary Innovation Ltd (QMI). QMI is the wholly-owned technology transfer company of Queen Mary, University of London, one of the leading research-focused higher education institutions in the UK.
Working in QMI’s Technology and Engineering technology transfer team, the role will have a focus on the commercialisation of technologies derived from research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering but with a focus on the Institutes of Bio-Engineering, Data Sciences, Materials and the Life Sciences Initiative. The successful candidate will engage in a range of technology transfer activities from IP discovery and development, through to technology licensing and new spinout company formation within the team.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of intellectual property protection and exploitation within an academic setting. A PhD or MSc in science is desirable or an equivalent in-depth research experience to a level that would allow the candidate to effectively analyse a range of projects across the diverse scientific areas within bio-engineering, data sciences, materials science or the life sciences that exist at QMUL.
This is a permanent contract and the post holder will be based in the QMI offices at our Mile End campus. Salary will be in the region of £35,000 per annum. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, access to a pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Training and course attendance relevant to the position may be offered if required.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
