Role Description

COTEC carries out a large range of tasks primarily based around the testing and evaluation of explosives, ordnance and munitions for defence and commercial customers.  The site also carries out research and supports the research projects of Cranfield University students.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME) to successfully complete an apprenticeship development programme leading to a Level 6 Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME) Degree Apprenticeship. This training position will develop the post holder to be competent in analysing, interpreting and evaluating technical information, concepts and ideas to propose solutions to problems.

No essential experience is required as this is an apprenticeship role.  However you should be willing to learn and be committed to completing the apprenticeship.

You will have the ability to work flexibly as part of a team and will be able to follow instructions.

You will have achieved 3 A Levels (A-C) including Maths and English.

You must be prepared to enrol for a course of study leading to a Level 6 Ordnance Munitions and Explosives (OME) Degree Apprenticeship which will be approximately 5 years in duration.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.

As part of our commitment to support and develop Technical staff across the University, we have now also become a founding signatory of the Science Council's Technician Commitment. This is a sector wide, collaborative initiative led by the Science Council and supported by the 'Technicians Make It Happen' campaign, to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research.
