Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 496906), to commence on August 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter until October 31, 2021.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in educational measurement, statistics, psychometrics, computational social science, or a related field. They should have demonstrated expertise in large-scale assessment and survey design and its implementation, scale development, as well as familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., R, Mplus) in conducting advanced data analysis such as item response and multilevel modeling. They should also have a multidisciplinary research background, and enjoy working with a large interdisciplinary team of researchers to address problems in education, humanity, and social sciences that are theoretical and methodological in nature. Knowledge and experience in experimental approaches to learning or educational assessment, e-learning technology design and development, and/or demonstrated ability in academic writing are clear advantages.

The appointee will be a key researcher associated with a Theme-Based Research Project funded by Hong Kong Research Grants Council (http://www.rss.hku.hk/links-resources/spotlight/trs-6th-round), which addresses research questions about the impact of digital media on human development and the everyday life of children and youths. Cutting-edge research designs and instrumentation will be developed and deployed to address the grand challenge of understanding and assessing digital citizenship development as a human capacity and its relationship to children’s learning lives (formal, informal, digital and non-digital). The project also develops online serious games for the learning and assessment of collaborative problem-solving. Working under the supervision of Professor Nancy Law and Professor Jimmy de la Torre, the appointee will contribute to providing project management support for the assessment of digital citizenship development.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
