The Translational Research Institute (TRI) is a leading collaborative translational research entity, with a mission to improve health outcomes. TRI has four key shareholders: The University of Queensland, the Queensland University of Technology, Queensland Health and Mater Research. Created in 2006, TRI has facilitated the success of significant health and medical discoveries and start-up entities within biomedicine.

The Institute’s aim is to improve health outcomes for patients by facilitating biomedical research that focuses on translating basic science discovery from the laboratory into clinical settings.

TRI is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) responsible for realising the Institute’s goals and aspirations. Supported by an executive team and working closely with the leadership of the company’s shareholder groups, the CEO will lead the promotion of innovative translational research; deliver world class facilities for shareholder staff and research students; provide an effective interface with clinicians; strengthen research links to industry and government; and generate health workforce capability.

The CEO will foster a culture of collaboration, providing visionary leadership that encourages innovation and excellence.

The CEO will ensure that TRI enhances its reputation as a significant member of the translational research landscape and as a substantial thought leader.

Relevant qualifications and extensive research leadership experience within a diverse biological/medical and/or health research context should be coupled with an ability to build trusted relationships with shareholders, industry, government, the community and other key stakeholders. Your proven track record in optimising translational research opportunities leading to discovery and application should be complemented by executive management expertise, including strategic business planning and budgeting.

Candidates should have highly developed communication and excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complexity with influence and gravitas.
