Overview:

Applications are invited for the post of School Manager in the world-leading School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London. This appointment will play a major strategic role in the development and operation of the School and work with the Head of School and senior staff as a full member of the School’s senior management team to determine and implement the School’s strategy in line with the strategic objectives of the School, Faculty and University.

As a full member of the Faculty Professional Services Leadership Group, the post holder will work with the Faculty Operating Officer and broader Faculty Executive to determine and implement the Faculty strategy, taking into account the aims and objectives laid down in the Queen Mary University of London Strategic Plan 2030.

The post holder will be expected to hold an undergraduate degree or have equivalent experience, have significant experience of leading and managing in a research or education environment, and to have a proven record of managing and leading significant changes (process/organizational). Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of financial management, planning, and developing practical and innovative solutions. Key parts of the role also include the efficient management of staff and developing teams, excellent time management and organizational skills as well as management of multiple, time-conflicting demands. Activities are expected to be conducted in a professional, business-like, collegial and transparent manner, and the successful candidate must be sympathetic to the aims of the academic enterprise as well as the demands facing academic staff and students in contemporary higher education.

The post is full time and permanent, and starting as soon as possible. Starting salary will be from £54,853 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
