Director of Academic Quality Service

For more than 140 years Middlesex University has been home to great minds, with a determined and unwavering ambition to improve the world through teaching, learning and research. We have grown from a successful polytechnic to a leading modern university and global institution. Middlesex is about transformational journeys, empowering our students with the tools, attributes and opportunities to turn their potential into success. Our distinctive student experience is defined by innovative teaching and learning, engaging and vibrant campuses and the richness of our diversity.
The University is seeking to appoint a Director of the Academic Quality Service (AQS) to support the achievement of its strategic objectives and promote the enhancement of the learning experience of its diverse community of over 19,000 students at its main campus in Hendon, and almost 20,000 students studying for Middlesex awards with academic partners in the UK and overseas.
The Director will provide strategic oversight of the development and implementation of the University’s academic quality assurance and enhancement strategies and manage the University’s relationship with the external quality bodies including QAA and similar agencies. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the institution, the Director will be responsible for developing and enhancing the partnership with the Students’ Union in the context of student engagement in quality assurance and enhancement. The Director will also oversee the standard and quality of the University’s provision at collaborative partners.
Candidates should have experience of leading a professional service in collaboration with academic faculties and a successful track record of delivering change and innovation in an academic environment. Extensive experience of managing quality assurance/enhancement in higher education is essential and should include the quality assurance/enhancement of collaborative provision.
The Director will report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning and Innovation and be a member of the University’s senior management team.
