About the position

This opportunity is a conjoint appointment between the Gold Coast Hospital Health Service (GCHHS) Orthopaedics Department and Bond University Master of Occupational Therapy program. The position will contribute to teaching and research within both organisations.

This position will have mutual benefits to both Bond University and GCHHS. The position will be based with the Occupational Therapy program at Bond University and the Orthopaedics academic and research unit at GCHHS and will fulfil the following roles:

  • Research co-ordination for GCHHS orthopaedics department
  • Oversee and support grants applications
  • Support research ethics and governance processes
  • Contribute to appropriate orthopaedic clinics, for example hand therapy
  • Student supervision of Bond OT students while at GCUH orthopaedics
  • Lead OT research in orthopaedic related areas
  • Teaching into Bond University Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Student consultation and mentorship

The successful candidate will be expected to spread their time equally across both organisations.

At the end of the initial contract, there maybe an opportunity for a further extension in the same conjoint arrangement.

About the person:

The successful candidate will have expertise in relevant areas of Occupational Therapy, with experience in hand therapy particularly welcomed. Registration as an Occupational Therapist in Australia is essential. Additionally, the candidate must be student focussed with experience teaching Occupational Therapy at a University level. Possession of a relevant PhD and/or postgraduate qualification with extensive professional experience in Occupational Therapy is required.
