The Haas Center for Public Service is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Emerson Fellowship: Transforming Dialogue into Action.  Would you like to use your diversity and inclusion skills to support equity on our campus and within the surrounding community? The Program Coordinator position at the Haas Center for Public Service, a unit of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, may be the right opportunity for you!

Reporting to the Program Director of the Emerson Fellowship, the Program Coordinator assumes leadership and functional responsibility for planning, implementing, assessing and managing programmatic efforts for a yearlong, intergroup dialogue program. This includes the participation in the development of programmatic goals and objectives, strategic planning, and assessment. The Program Coordinator focuses on learning outcomes that deepen students’ knowledge and skills in social justice, equity, and social action through public service to build capacity for effective citizenship in a diverse world.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Co-facilitate bi-weekly cohort meetings to promote development of participants’ knowledge, skills, and capacity for social justice, social change, and public service.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor cohort lead facilitators. Design, implement, and assess cohort lead to prepare student staff for their roles as facilitators.
  • Support in the collection and analysis of student feedback data to prioritize short- and long-range goals and measurable outcomes for program implementation, growth, and assessment.
  • Serve as a mentor and provide direct advice to students of the program on a range of issues including academic and public service connections, ethical and effective service, dialogue-to-action project and learning plan development, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Assist with the conceptualization, design, implementation of Emerson Fellowship marketing materials.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in diversity and inclusion, and/or social justice programming
  • Demonstrated facilitation experience
  • Experience working with college-aged students
  • Ability to exercises independent judgment and initiative in planning and problem solving under general direction from the supervisor
