Duties    

Penn’s Graduate School of Education is looking for a dynamic, seasoned professional to understand and help develop clear and necessary strategic goals of the school and marshal information technology resources to have a direct and positive effect on the School’s mission. Specifically, the Senior IT Director will be responsible for directing a vision for information technology that builds on the School’s strengths and anticipates new opportunities for growth while balancing the need for exceptional operations in a mid-sized school. This position is responsible for directing and supervising agile teams responsible for all IT services, including desktop support, web design, and development. Oversees short- and long-term strategic direction of IT services which support faculty, students, and staff. Responsible for establishing and administering policies and procedures, developing technical standards and methods, managing complex technical projects, overseeing IT security, and ensuring high quality service and support to GSE constituents. Plans and oversees the research, evaluation, and integration of new technology, systems development methodologies, data administration, capacity planning, and performance and technical support. The incumbent will be tasked with continuing to advance the goals of the University and the School strategic plans by aligning the IT strategic plan in areas of research support, data integrity, project management, academic and classroom technology, and other initiatives.

Qualifications    

A Bachelor’s Degree or higher and 6 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience managing, leading, and professionally developing an IT department with multifaceted teams. Experience in a multi-vendor, multi-project environment with a variety of clients required. Experience in a higher education and/or academic environment preferred. Must have experience leading progressively complex and large-scale projects with a strong foundation in multiple technology systems and solutions. Experience in strategic planning, business development, and client relationship is necessary. A successful incumbent must demonstrate strong service orientation, demonstrated leadership, collaboration and relationship building skills. Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills are required. Demonstrated experience overseeing IT security. Research environment experience a plus.
