An opportunity has arisen for a full-time appointment in The Widening Participation and Outreach Department (WP & OR), which is fixed term until July 2021.

The post holder will be responsible for managing the Higher Education Outreach Network (HEON), which is a partnership of local organisations including universities and colleges working in Surrey and North East Hampshire. Through a programme of targeted outreach HEON aims to increase the rates of young people from local areas accessing higher education. HEON is funded through the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP), which is a strategic initiative of the Office for Students (OfS).

The post holder will provide full management support to the HEON central team including overseeing their work schedules and performance management, overseeing both large and small scale events and being responsible for ensuring that operational plans fully contribute to the achievement of HEON’s targets and that deliver is in line with the approved Operational Plan. In addition to the central team, HEON also has officers in partner organisations and the HEON Manager will need to oversee this work, with support from the HEON Central Coordinator and line managers in partner organisations, in order to ensure that their work is contributes towards the achievement of HEON’s targets and objectives. The post holder will be responsible for the financial management of the project, including reporting to the OfS and HEON Governance, and will lead on the writing of NCOP Returns as specified by the OfS. This includes ensuring that the partnership’s evaluation is robust and appropriate, with support from the HEON Evaluation and Impact Coordinator.

With relevant professional knowledge and previous experience in line management and project management, the successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and will be able to demonstrate a strong ability to communicate with, and obtain buy in from, a variety of different audiences.
