12 Months Fixed-Term Contract (1 October 2019 – 30 September 2020)

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in the Department of Electronic Engineering; a new department that focusses on a project-led, creative approach to teaching engineering and high-quality research.

The post holder will deliver high-quality teaching to 2nd year engineering undergraduate students on “Electronic Materials and Devices” (existing 15 credit module) and to 1st year undergraduate students on “Principles of sustainable engineering” (existing 15 CU module). Additionally, the post holder will contribute to other teaching activities shared by colleagues on other undergraduate modules as required by the Director of Teaching and Learning. These duties may involve but are not limited to, laboratory supervision, supervising group projects, pastoral care and other activities as deemed appropriate.

The successful candidate will have a completed or near completed a PhD in Electronic Engineering or closely related subject, ideally in an aspect of semiconductor materials and sustainable engineering. S/he will offer evidence of high-quality teaching in higher education, effective team working, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous personal development.

This is a fixed-term position offered on a part time basis 70%, available for 12 months only from 1st October 2019 – 30th September 2020 to cover buy-out from a research grant. Specific hours and days to be agreed with the Head of Department.
