We are seeking an academic with an excellent record of academic achievement to join our staff as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership. The candidate should have experience in leading research and securing funding for projects involving issues of diversity and equality as well as school and community-based leadership initiatives. The candidate should demonstrate a familiarity with various strands of leadership, teacher involvement in leadership and leadership policy at the national and international levels. We particularly encourage applications from those who can take the lead in developing strong links with national leadership agencies, international educational research circles and a wide range of education professionals.
The preferred candidate will be able to conduct innovative, collaborative research in school-based and community contexts, and demonstrate a track record of contributing to international research. We are seeking someone who exhibits an openness to different cultural contexts and other challenges and who will take a leading role as part of a larger team committed to developing aspects of Educational Leadership across our Diploma, Masters and Doctoral offerings. Thus, the candidate will demonstrate evidence of strong collegiality and teamwork.
The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. S/he will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department, undertake teaching duties on the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of Master's, EdD and PhD students, and work collaboratively in supporting the overall collegial work of the Department. S/he will also be expected to assume some administrative duties where required.
The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the University's research strategy including affiliating to the Research Institutes and the newly formed Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy. The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard.
Senior Lecturer (Post 1995): €68,663 - €95,917 p.a. (8 points)
Lecturer (Post 1995): €52,849 - €83,090 p.a. (7 points)
Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.
*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
