ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2, Comparative Media Studies/Writing-Scheller Teacher Education Program (STEP), to support a team of researchers, designers, content managers, developers, and project managers with day-to-day office support tasks. Responsibilities include serving as assistant to the lab director, including calendar management and booking travel; participating in meetings with the lab director; acting as point-of-contact for visitors; maintaining lab’s email lists, website, and other communication vehicles; responding to or delegating communication sent to tea-info@mit.edu; supporting regular updates of education.mit.edu/news; developing and maintaining system for office supply inventory; managing equipment storage and checkout procedures; supporting lab staff with travel-related tasks and questions, including booking travel; maintaining a shared lab space including maintenance requests; handling catering and event planning needs; processing mail; supporting finance coordinator with financial review and control and serving as back-up support; supporting organization of teacher professional development workshops; supporting academic programs; and assisting with special projects as needed.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: at least three years of administrative, office, or related experience; meticulous attention to detail; excellent organizational skills, time-management, and written and verbal communication skills; proactive approach to work; ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, sponsors, staff, and students; and a high level of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. Relevant MIT experience would be a strong plus, e.g., experience with SAP and Concur. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience managing WordPress websites would also be a plus.
