The World’s First Business School

Reporting to the Vice Dean of the MBA Program, the Enterprise Community Manager (ECM) will oversee the MBA Program’s MyWharton experience for current students. MyWharton is an online Salesforce platform that functions as a resource to engage MBA students in sharing information and collaborating with staff and peers. This position is a core role that will develop and execute the MBA Program’s MyWharton community strategy, community management, and content and communications strategy within the platform. The ECM will work across the 8 administrative departments within the MBA Program (Office of the Vice Dean, Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Management, Student Life, McNulty Leadership Program and the Communication Program) to ensure and consistent and seamless experience of MyWharton for all Wharton MBA students and full adoption of MyWharton by MBA Program staff.

The Enterprise Community Manager will serve in the following capacities:

  • Caretaker: watches over the community and tends to the members, content, and places ensuring the community stays healthy and engaged.
  • Detective: watches and analyzes the pulse of the community to better optimize future strategies.
  • Concierge: Providing one-on-one attention to issues or to members (students and staff) that need assistance in the community.
  •  Traffic Cop: directs members to the appropriate content or expert within the community.
  • Cheerleader: announces new features and supports excelling members, praises engagement in the community, and helps bring along members who are low adopters.
  •  Negativity crusher: always on the lookout for offensive actions to protect the organization, follow established business rules and policies, and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Expert: a master of engagement and Salesforce Community Cloud knowledge to get the job done.
  • Sculptor: massages the noise of the community to be beneficial for consumption with a critical lens towards content and communications strategy/structure.
  • Representative: provides input and guidance to MBA leadership to drive prioritization of MBA related needs for MyWharton across key governing bodies.

Required Skills (Typical Industry Standard)

  • 5+ years of experience with Program/Project Management or equivalent experience, ideally in a cross-functional and Technical capacity
  • 2+ years of experience with Community Management or Salesforce Community (desired or expected to quickly achieve after joining: Salesforce Administrator Certification, Salesforce Community Cloud Certification)

Desired Skills (Typical Industry Standard)

  • Excellence in interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and drive decision-making across a wide range of constituencies in a diverse higher-education environment
  • Strong experience in higher education, communications, content strategy & technical software implementations for web-based applications like websites, online communities, etc.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget while communicating with key senior leaders
  •  Proficient with business process, operations, and metric definition best practices
  • Proficient with Risk and Issue management and resolution
  •  Detail and action-oriented self-starter
  • Knowledge of KPI development
  • Familiarity with organizational change management principles
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Smartsheets and other Program Management tools
  • Proficient with program and project management principles and practices, PMP certification or Big 5 Consulting experience a plus
