We have an exciting opportunity to join Construction Scotland Innovation Centre as a lead technical Trainer.

The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre's (CSIC) role is to champion innovation and connect Scotland's construction industry to deliver transformational change. We support Scotland's construction related businesses to innovate, collaborate and grow through innovation support programmes, delivering an up-skilling programme and an ecosystem of events, workshops and seminars.   

The Innovation Factory is a 2.5 million pound facility created to support Scotland's construction businesses innovate, collaborate and grow, featuring advanced manufacturing, robotics, digitisation and virtual reality technology and training and meeting spaces to facilitate collaboration and learning.

The Role

You will work as part of a close knit team of 20+ staff, providing tours training and demonstrations for a variety of people from school children to leading industry business partners, so you will be comfortable with public speaking. Involved in this role is encouraging businesses, schools, colleges and universities to engage in future construction technologies and upskilling opportunities through events, physical prototyping, workshops, classroom and hands on practical skills training opportunities linked to the Innovation Factory and training facility.

This role is very hands on, from operating to supporting the maintenance of the range of specialist digital and technical equipment within the Innovation Factory to helping with demonstrations to showcase new technologies. You will support our Technical Manager to deliver projects for businesses, so experience in project delivery is essential.

Working with CSIC's Skills and Training Manager to co-ordinate and deliver high quality, industry focused training, digital learning and upskilling around themes related to offsite construction, BIM and digital technologies and building sustainability. The successful candidate will also work closely with colleagues in Scottish Funding Council, Scottish universities and colleges, Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Construction Wales Innovation Centre and other technical and education sector partners.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inspiring the current and future workforce and wants to be at the cutting edge of new technologies and innovations. You must be able to evidence a strong training delivery background in a related field such as Automotive, Engineering, IT or Construction industries.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders 
  • You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to tailor and deliver workshops to various ages and levels, from school children to senior industry leaders
  • Proactive technological hands on approach to support the delivery of various projects
  • Experience delivering relevant face-to-face training or engagement activities for different audiences

Desirable attributes:

  • Demonstrable awareness of Building Information Modelling, Digital Design & Fabrication, Offsite Manufacture, Building Technologies, AR/VR & General Construction processes
  • Experience of generating commercial income through provision of prototyping and/or training. 
  • Experience working in a testing, prototyping or training facility and providing supervision or training of others.

Salary: Grade 5, GBP 32,236 - GBP 38,460 fixed term contract to May 2024
