The University is looking to appoint an Administrator in The Professional Development Centre within the College of Social Science. The Professional Development Centre offers a range of short courses, undergraduate and masters level programmes to enhance skills, learning and knowledge. The Centre works closely with employers from a range of public, private and third sector organisations to provide targeted, academic and practice based courses. The Centre has a strong track record of delivering courses to meet continuing professional development requirements of a variety of sectors including the Nursing, Social Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Medical and Third Sector.
The centre works across the College of Social Science to deliver programmes relevant to current practice, taking into account the important work-life-study balance that professional students need to thrive. These include the opportunity to top-up existing qualifications to degree level, embark on an MSc programme or attain credits from individual modules which can be used toward a BSc or MSc in the future. Students can undertake study alongside their existing work commitments and use their employment experiences to place theories into context.
The successful candidate working closely as part of a team with the Centre Manager, Programme Leads and the academic delivery team, will play a key role in overseeing the effective administration of a number of health related programmes. S/he will also have responsibility fo rthe maintenance of management information systems, monitoring and performance reporting, and will have a major role in relationship management between the university, employers and students.
You will need to exercise high degrees of professionalism and judgement and will have extensive experience of HE academic administration and data systems. You will be required to coordinate several work streams and produce accurate results to tight deadlines, and will largely manage your own time and determine priorities in order to achieve the required output. You must be able to use your initiative while working as part of a team. You should have the ability to cope in a dynamic and challenging environment. You will undertake extensive liaison with employers and students, and it is therefore important that you have an outgoing disposition and the ability to be a confident communicator.
