The Grants Manager in the Department of Neurology will provide pre-and post-award research and financial administration support for individual investigators within department. Responsibilities include proposal preparation, budget development, subcontract setup and monitoring, transaction approval and monitoring, reporting, and business services for research investigators. Function as resource for sponsored program guidelines, policies and procedures. Act as liaison with School of Medicine administration, Research Services and Penn Center for Innovation. Reports to the Administration and Financial Officer within department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.
In addition to the above the Grants Manager B will have independent responsibility for T32, U01, P30 grants and will negotiate budgets with pharmaceutical companies and industry.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business field and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience in general accounting practices is required. Strong excel skills are required. Experience with PennERA, BEN Financials, Pennworks, Business Objects, and University guidelines/policy is strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required. Ability to work independently, under pressure of deadlines, and ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a proactive work style are required.
Grants Manager B will have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working with sponsored research including NIH grants and pharmaceutical clinical trials as well as the above qualifications.
