NZ Institute of Security and Crime Science (NZISCS)

Division of Arts, Law, Psychology and Social Sciences

The NZ Institute of Security and Crime Science brings together academics and researchers with cross disciplinary expertise and capabilities in security and crime science. The Institute's research expertise is built on collaboration and research partnership with NZ Police, and related agencies including Corrections, Justice, Interpol, Defence and District Health Boards.

Applications are invited for a continuing position focusing on broad and in-depth knowledge of security and crime science. The ability to teach the Foundations of Security and Crime Science MSCS papers is essential and the ability to teach quantitative analytics methods used in Security and Crime Science would be an advantage.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and professional standing along with high quality research outputs demonstrated through scholarship and publications and have experience attracting external research funding.  You will be committed to the development of research and graduate and postgraduate papers as well as teaching at all levels. The ability to offer masters and doctoral supervision as a chief supervisor is desirable. 

Salary range for Lecturers is NZ$75,514 to $90,946 per year and Senior Lecturers (Range 1) is NZ$93,544 to $109,135.  Salary will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.  Note - the rank of Lecturer in the New Zealand university system is equivalent to the rank of Assistant Professor in the North American and some other systems.
