School Technical Officer
The School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences consists of six academic departments: Cardiovascular Imaging, Cancer Imaging, Imaging Chemistry & Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Perinatal Imaging & Health and Surgical & Interventional Engineering. Staff and students comprise physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians and clinicians working together in a highly cross-disciplinary way.
The Technical Officer role is to be part of a team that manages the School’s laboratories and equipment at St Thomas’ Hospital to ensure safe and effective use by all researchers needing them, to help implement safe and effective working practices among users, train users in safe use of specialist equipment and laboratory practices (including radioactivity handling, radioanalytical methods and biological experiments), support and contribute to laboratory experiments particularly where technical analytical, radioanalytical or in vitro biological expertise are required. The Technical Officer will also support the team to ensure efficient purchasing and budget management.
