DIRECTOR OF STAFF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION (D&I), Human Resources (HR), to establish processes to support MIT’s long-standing commitment to workforce diversity, inclusion, affirmative action, and equal opportunity. Will create recruiting, retention, and employee engagement strategies to attract and retain diverse candidates, and advocate for diversity and inclusion at MIT.
Responsibilities will include building partnerships throughout the MIT community to establish programs and measure results; building networks to influence and manage change in support of D&I; overseeing all areas of MIT’s affirmative action programs and ensuring that MIT is compliant with federal and state AA, EEO, and OFCCP regulations; guiding MIT’s departments, labs, and centers (DLCs) in making good faith efforts and evolving recruitment and retention strategies; measuring results and reporting on progress; providing consultation and guidance to DLC leadership on policies, programs, and best practices; partnering with MIT recruiters and hiring managers to provide expertise on diversity outreach; developing and fostering a pipeline of diverse candidates for management and leadership roles; collaborating with HR Analytics to develop tools and reports to support strategic efforts; and representing MIT’s D&I initiatives beyond the campus community at Cambridge, regional, Ivy Plus, and national conferences. Will report to the VP of HR.
REQUIRED: B.S. (advanced degree desirable) in a relevant discipline; at least eight years’ progressively responsible experience; demonstrated record of accomplishment in HR and D&I staff recruiting; ability to lead through persuasion, adapt approaches to unit needs, communicate effectively, and foster collaborative relationships and build trust; and understanding of the academic environment, i.e., consensus decision-making, faculty governance, etc. Professional certifications and D&I affiliations desired.
