The Center for the Study of Democratic Politics, a program in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate or more senior research position.

Applications are welcome from recent PhDs and PhD students who will earn their degree soon after starting the position.

The researcher will be asked to participate in a new project on "time in politics" that combines study of institutions and individual psychology. The individual will work on aspects of the project that may include compilation and analysis of existing survey questions, development of an original survey, experimental design, and historical-institutional analysis. The project will combine a variety of different research approaches.

The position is offered for one year, with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon funding and satisfactory performance. Please submit online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/12041, a cover letter, a CV, contact information for three recommendations, and a statement of research skills and experience.

The statement of research skills should be a separate document not included in the cover letter. Because the project will combine a variety of different approaches, a clear statement of research skills (including descriptions of not only technical/technological expertise, but also experience with particular conceptual approaches to politics) is an important part of the application. For questions about the position, contact Prof. Markus Prior at mprior@princeton.edu.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantitative research and statistical methods. Experience with survey design and analysis of complex survey data are highly desirable, as are data management and programming skills in STATA. The candidate should be well organized, flexible, attend to detail, and respond to deadlines in a timely fashion. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
