The Department of Media Arts is inviting applications for a Desktop Support Coordinator who, as part of dedicated and multi-skilled technical support team, will lead on the delivery of high-quality, specialized, and expanding desktop service provision for the support of digital creativity across our growing selection of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. To facilitate growing numbers of applications, by September our desktop environment will more than double in capacity to nearly one hundred desks and, in addition to facilitating scheduled classes, will offer our students round-the-clock access to professional film editing, gaming design, sound design, animation, visual effects, film & TV production, photography, and music applications in our specialized labs and post-production rooms.
With substantial experience of offering IT support in a comparable organization, you will have advanced knowledge of supporting both Mac and Windows OS and related technologies in networked environments. You will have excellent customer-facing skills, with the ability to write and explain technical and operational concepts to lay-persons, and show insight and sensitivity to the needs of students and staff whose focus is creative and often artistically experimental. Ideally, you will have a keen interest in creative workflow, and experiential knowledge of managing media file formats, codecs, transcoding processes and data streams.
This is a full-time role with occasional requirement to work outside office hours for events and operational purposes.
