Are you an experienced and ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a strong background in satellite Earth observation? Do you want to further your career in World-Leading research-intensive Russell Group University?

With a vision and drive to contribute a World-Leading research Portfolio, as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching, you will make a significant impact on the performance, stature and profile and student education at The University of Leeds.

The University of Leeds is a growing hub of Earth Observation expertise across a range of disciplines, and you will work collaboratively to compliment this work, increasing the stature and profile of satellite based research at Leeds. As a University Academic Fellow you will lead on the development and delivery of satellite Earth observation and numerical model data services for the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) (30% of workload per year for the first 5-years). As part of the role we will support you in fostering new interdisciplinary collaborations within the School and across the University.

You will have a PhD (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field and significant research expertise in the field of cryosphere research with a focus on using satellite Earth observation techniques to study the cryosphere.  You may also have experience of developing and running a satellite data service.  Experience of studying land ice using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data is also desirable to complement the existing research expertise in the School of Earth and Environment and CPOM.
