About the role

The school of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the structural and electrical characterisation of next-generation graphene and in the growth of organic LEDs on graphene. The project will explore the potential of our graphene as an ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) replacement in devices, in collaboration with the UK company Paragraf.

The successful candidate will contribute towards the development of the research programme under the guidance of the Principal Investigators and be involved in the structural and electrical characterisation of our next-generation graphene and in the growth of organic LEDs on graphene, using electron microscopy to characterise the structure of the interface between graphene and various substrates, including sapphire and silicon.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry or have equivalent experience.  Experience in Electron Microscopy, Raman, Graphene and OLED Growth would be an advantage.

The post is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months and is available in July 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be £33,615 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
