Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Centre for Medical Ethics and Law (CMEL)  to be appointed by the Faculty of Law (Ref.: 495737), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

The LKS Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Law have jointly established 2 Post-doctoral Fellow positions in CMEL, with one to be appointed by the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 495844) and the other to be appointed by the Faculty of Law (Ref.: 495737).  These 2 Post-doctoral Fellows will work at the office of CMEL at the Faculty of Law premises at Cheng Yu Tung Tower, Centennial Campus of the University. Applicants for this Post-doctoral Fellowship in CMEL to be appointed by the Faculty of Law should possess a Ph.D. degree in Law, Medicine, Philosophy or any field in Humanities/Social Sciences related to Medical Ethics and Law or any other related discipline.  Those who do not yet have a Ph.D. degree but are close to completion will also be considered.  They are expected to show evidence of the potential to produce excellent research.  Applicants should have excellent written and spoken English skills.  Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese would be an advantage.   They must be able to work independently, professionally, and to a high standard under time constraints.

The appointee is expected to devote his/her time mainly to research and knowledge exchange in the fields of medical ethics and/or medical law. He/She will help conduct research in the area of medical ethics and law independently and collaboratively; help identify, plan and prepare funding applications for projects; commission and manage research projects and grants; edit, contribute to and publish academic and knowledge exchange publications; deliver presentations at conferences and other events; and disseminate knowledge to the legal, medical and other communities. 

A significant portion of the work will entail research dissemination and knowledge exchange such as planning and organizing conferences, seminars and other events; editing and writing for the purposes of research dissemination and knowledge exchange; and assisting in maintaining CMEL’s online and social media presence.  Information about CMEL can be obtained at https://www.cmel.hku.hk.  Information about the Faculty of Law and the LKS Faculty of Medicine can be obtained at http://www.law.hku.hk/ and https://www.med.hku.hk/ respectively.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
