The role

The School of Education is one of the largest in the University, and operates across 4 campuses – Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waurn Ponds, Warrnambool and Cloud (online). It is widely regarded as a leading provider of primary and secondary teacher education, early childhood education, education leadership, and adult, vocational and applied learning education. The School itself has achieved a QS ranking of 27 in the world, and an Excellence in Research Australia assessment of “Above World Standard” and “High” in regard to impact.

Deakin are searching for a highly skilled academic leader and manager who can guide, motivate and support staff in further developing the School’s exciting programs in teaching and research. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with the expertise to lead the school in expanding on its programs, someone who can continue to innovate to ensure high levels of impact from the School’s teaching and research activities.

Active engagement with business, industry, government and communities across Australia and internationally will be key to championing the strategic direction of the School, Faculty and Deakin University.

The Head of School role will be for an initial term of five years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. The successful applicant will also be appointed to a continuing position as Professor; they will revert to this position upon completion of their term(s) as Head of School. The position will be based at the Melbourne Burwood campus.
