The University of Surrey is a global University with a world-class research profile, an enterprising spirit, and prestigious business links that reflect our innovation and forward-thinking.

We are now looking for a Senior Project Officer to join a professional and committed team to co-ordinate and act as the primary point of contact for the University’s UKRI-funded Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA), which currently include the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded IAA, and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) IAA.

The Senior Project Officer will play an essential role in successful delivery by managing the operational aspects of the Accounts to ensure they run smoothly and effectively. The role will be split between the two Accounts, with 3 days a week required for the management of the EPSRC IAA and two days week for the ESRC IAA.

The successful applicant will have relevant qualifications and broad and significant project management experience, or will have held a role demanding substantial relationship management skills in a business or educational environment. Experience of working in both business and educational sectors would be particularly advantageous.

You will be confident and skilled at problem solving, using your own initiative and demonstrating sound judgment, as well as having a very focused and positive attitude. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain credible relationships with people at all levels of seniority and with a range of academic and professional backgrounds is a must. Experience of planning and running events, and the creation, design and delivery of specialist materials (eg for training and/or promotion purposes) is required, as is a comprehensive knowledge of relevant software packages e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, and Visio.

This post is full-time until 31stMarch 2020, reducing to 0.4FTE (two days a week) from 1stApril 2020 to 31stMarch 2023. The 0.4FTE post will focus entirely on the ESRC IAA. If, after 31stMarch 2020, the EPSRC project was to be extended, or if there were to be a requirement for management on other projects, it is possible the total FTE may be reviewed upwards.

In return for your experience, skills and commitment, we offer a generous annual leave allowance, pension scheme, exclusive discounted membership for the Surrey Sports Park, on-site childcare facilities and relocation allowance (where applicable), in addition to the opportunity to join one of the best Universities in the Country.
