Role Description

Reader / Professor of Strategic Sales Management / Business to Business Marketing / Key Account Management

Cranfield School of Management has been educating business leaders for over fifty years. We are a Financial Times top 40 school, triple accredited by EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB, ranked 7th in the UK and 17th in Europe. Our MBA was ranked 7th in the world for one-year programmes by Times Higher Education / Wall Street Journal.

The School’s research and teaching has always had a strong managerial inspiration and relevance. Our faculty enjoy working closely with managers in organisations across a range of sectors via our specialist Masters programmes, open and tailored executive courses, best-practice clubs and research. We offer post graduate degrees as well as teach post experience learners.

We are looking to recruit a talented and committed Reader / Professor to join the Centre for Strategic Marketing and Sales to support our growing business.

The Centre has a long history of leadership in strategic marketing planning, relationship marketing, key account management, sales, business-to-business solutions, customer experience management, CRM and brand management. We are developing our capabilities in digital transformation and behavioural science. We are therefore seeking to appoint a leader in one of the following areas: sales, business to business marketing and relationship management, big data, digital marketing, or dynamic capabilities.

Our MSc in Strategic Marketing is ranked 12th in the world by QS World University Rankings.

The School and the Centre are enjoying a period of rapid growth in learners and income and we are increasing teaching and research capacity in strategic sales and B2B marketing. You will be joining a collaborative faculty group that balances teaching with rigorous and relevant research, and working in a close-to-practice academic, postgraduate environment. You should be enthusiastic about engaging with senior managers and we would expect you to have some expertise in executive education. We are looking for collaborative people to join a close-knit unit to contribute to the development of Cranfield’s thought leadership in Marketing & Sales.

The Centre has a strong research ethos and its members have published in high-quality, impactful journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Sciences, Journal of Service Research, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Review and California Management Review.

Reporting to the Director of Centre for Strategic Marketing & Sales, you will provide direction and leadership to our Sales, Key Account Management and Negotiations areas. You will have a Doctorate in a relevant topic, a well-developed publication pipeline and existing publications in high-quality journals. You will have teaching experience and preferably programme or executive course leadership experience. Cranfield also values industrial experience and therefore any practical experience of working in marketing, sales, business development, consultancy, or related contexts can be a valued bonus.

For an informal discussion, please contact Professor Stan Maklan, Professor of Marketing & Technology on (T); +44 (0)1234 75 8022 or (E); s.maklan@cranfield.ac.uk.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.
