FACULTY OF SCIENCE

Department of Physics

Under the University's Talent100 recruitment drive, the Department invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, with focus areas in (a) Advanced Materials & Energy and (b) Biophysics & Complex Systems, and welcomes candidates from other areas as well. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged by the Faculty and fostered under the University Research Cluster on "Health & Drug Discovery" and "Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence in X". New resources will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment. For more information, please visit our website (http://physics.hkbu.edu.hk).

Being part of a rapidly evolving research and educational landscape in the region, the Department builds on new infrastructural and internationalisation efforts by the University, on its first-rate research achievements (evidenced by extensive international collaborations, by reviews such as RAE, by start-up companies and by prestigious awards), and on its successful teaching (for BSc in Physics and Green Energy, for MSc in Green Technology (Energy), for MPhil and PhD programmes, as well as for Physics Olympiads).

The appointees should have a PhD degree in Physics or relevant disciplines, proven track record of collaborative research and strong commitment in teaching. They are expected to conduct world-class research and to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

These are tenure-track positions with initial appointment on a three-year fixed-term contract. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Tenure is expected to be attained within six years.

Those who have responded to the advertisement posted in November 2018 need not re-apply.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Application Procedure:

Applicants are invited to submit their applications at the HKBU e-Recruitment System (jobs.hkbu.edu.hk). They should send in samples of publications, preferably three best ones out of their most recent publications/works, statements of research interest including relationship with existing research in the Department, statement of teaching interest and recent teaching evaluation results. Applicants should also request two referees to send in confidential letters of reference, with PR number (stated above) quoted on the letters, to the Personnel Office (Email: recruit@hkbu.edu.hk) direct. Those who are not invited for interview four months after the closing date may consider their applications unsuccessful. All application materials including publication samples, scholarly/creative works will be destroyed after completion of the recruitment exercise unless upon request. Details of the University's Personal Information Collection Statement can be found at http://pers.hkbu.edu.hk/pics.

The University reserves the right not to make an appointment for the posts advertised, and the appointment will be made according to the terms and conditions applicable at the time of offer.

Review of applications is on-going and will continue until the positions are filled.
