TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join an interdisciplinary team in the Preclinical Modeling, Imaging and Testing Core Facility, that is dedicated to offering to the research community an intelligent pipeline for the evaluation of novel therapeutics through in-vivo testing and imaging. Will work closely with the scientific staff to conduct pilot studies and assist with rodent care and procedures such as contrast agent administration and in-vivo imaging, image-guided procedures, tissue collection, dosing with standard and novel therapeutic drugs, and survival surgery for implantation of devices or for tumor induction. Will also be responsible for assisting with ordering and managing supplies, billing, and lab safety. The position involved interacting and collaborating with veterinary staff at MIT to ensure proper practices.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a biomedical or veterinary discipline; at least two years’ specialized lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate, although postgraduate experience is preferred; experience with rodent handling techniques (husbandry, anesthesia/analgesic administration, restraining, health monitoring) and procedures (injections, surgical, fluid collection, necropsy); willingness to learn and assist with and present data from high-throughput bioluminescence, fluorescence, and/or ultrasound imaging experiments (experience with these techniques a plus); knowledge of basic office tools for the preparation of documents and spreadsheets; and excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
