Overview:

Applications are invited for a Desktop Support Officer for the Barts CR-UK Centre. The Centre comprises of the Barts Cancer Institute and the Centre for Cancer Prevention, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Post-holders will be expected to provide 1st and 2nd line desktop support and advice to approximately 400 users.  You should have experience of working in an IT support role, ideally in a multi-user environment on a PC platform, along with previous experience of supporting users in an Active Directory environment. Additionally, experience of working with both a PC and Mac platform and using Citrix, Sophos Endpoint security, SCCM, VMware (ESX server) would be an advantage. 

Applicants must be educated to A Levels (Grades A-C) or NVQ Level 3 or BTEC Level 3 in relevant subject(s). A relevant Professional qualification (e.g. ITIL) would be an advantage. Postholder must have a good understanding of computer hardware and software. Fluency in English, and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users are essential.

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £27,251 - £33,615 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
