The opportunity

The Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) at the University of Melbourne is one of the leading providers of business and economics education and research. We enable individuals and organisations to be global leaders.

This is an exciting fixed term opportunity to join the newly formed Experiential Learning and Student Experience team within the Faculty with a clear mission of building student communities, and equipping our diverse student cohort with the skills and experience they need to be successful as they leap into the future world of work. Students are at the heart of everything we do, and we are constantly looking for ways we can add value to their experience.

The Communications Manager will strategically develop, implement and evaluate communications for FBE’s student cohort across a diverse channel mix. The goal of this role is to increase engagement with communications output as well as the programs delivered by the team, by facilitating a meaningful student and partner narrative.

This is a fast paced role and will be responsible for developing and implementing plans for multiple programs, identifying key metrics for success, and continuously optimising offer with the support of a Communications Officer. The Communications Manager work cross-functionally with partner teams on integrated delivery.

What you can bring

  • A degree with substantial relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and create compelling marketing and communication campaigns and materials that attract, engage and inform audiences across a wide range of media (including print and digital).
  • High level organisational skills and project management experience within a communications context.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan workloads, manage competing priorities in consultation with multiple stakeholders and achieve objectives within tight deadlines and to agreed budget.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and negotiation skills within a complex professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to delivering high quality service to internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, including demonstrated ability to develop engaging content across different media that supports brand and business objectives.
  • Experience in using a Content Management System to manage and create digital content.
  • Experience of managing teams across communications.
