UWE Bristol

Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law

Competitive remuneration

UWE Bristol is one of the largest providers of higher education in the South West, serving a diverse community of over 30,000 students and 4,000 staff. An ambitious University, UWE Bristol is on an upward trajectory as it continues to strengthen its external partnerships, research presence, positioning in the league tables and international reputation. It is an institution that is renowned for its innovative curriculum and delivery of outstanding education and student outcomes, achieving TEF Gold status and 89% overall student satisfaction in the most recent National Student Satisfaction survey. Such recognition highlights UWE Bristol’s success in reflecting and anticipating the needs of its students, partners, employers and wider society through high quality teaching and learning.

We are now seeking to appoint an outstanding leader as Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law.

With a community of 6,000 ambitious students and nearly 300 talented academic staff, the Faculty combines an unwavering commitment to outstanding teaching and research with a real-world focus on collaboration with business, the professions and the community. We’re proud to be at the forefront of the disciplines in which we specialise and are determined that our work in both Bristol Business School and Bristol Law School promotes ethical practices and has a genuine, lasting impact on the world around us, as well as equipping all our students for a future where they can realise their full potential.

The PVC/Executive Dean will bring a strategic vision for the diversity of disciplines across the Faculty and will lead the delivery of high-quality teaching, research and external partnerships. With proven leadership skills, a strong track record of academic achievement and experience of delivering sustainable change, she or he will also bring a deep commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.  A track record of partnership working, both internally, with academic and professional services staff, and externally, is essential, as is an inclusive approach to leadership and an unwavering commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of Business and Law at a creative, bold and forward-thinking university in a culturally vibrant city that was named the best city to live in by The Sunday Times in its ‘Best Places to Live Guide 2017’.
