The Faculty 

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences provides high quality, innovative programs of teaching and learning, research and consulting in the fields of communication, education and international studies, using a strong practice orientation with a focus on technology, creativity and internationalism.

The Faculty Research Office is the first point of contact for Faculty specific administrative and academic information. The Faculty Research Office is seeking to recruit a Research Administration Assistant to join and support the team.

The Role  

The Research Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing a range of administrative support and coordination for the Faculty’s research activities. The role requires strong administrative and organisational skills in order to coordinate and undertake a range of operational activities.

If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing general administrative services and operational support to the work area
  • Relieving FASS Academics of administrative requirements by maintaining online systems and records
  • Providing support to the HDR Admin Coordinator on aspects of HDR candidature management, including maintaining appropriate records, providing relevant reports, and providing advice to students and supervisors
  • Actively participating in the ongoing improvement of HDR processes
  • Other ad hoc administrative duties to support the Faculty

About You

This is an exciting administrative role where the incumbent will work across different areas of the Faculty, prioritising tasks according to the requirements of Faculty Plans and operational needs.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills which promote excellent client service.
  • Effective self-management, including the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and time manage.
  • Advanced computing skills, including Microsoft Office applications, databases and associated software
  • Highly-developed written and oral communication skills combined with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing and applying policies and procedures

Base Salary Range: $64,091 to $68,552 pa (HEW 4)

This role initially attracts 9.5% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. The introduction of 17% superannuation will take affect after 1 July 2020 for all UTS staff.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a 12-months fixed-term basis.
